You get SSP Glenrothes links in the funniest of places...
The internet is a wonderful thing. Technology can enable us to do great things. The wonders of technology enable us to check out how people came upon the Glenrothes Branch website. Usually, it's search engines like Google, but sometimes someone has taken the time to put a link to us on their website.
An article on the World Trade Organisation's web page on the subject of Trade Liberalisation Statistics which demonstrates that 'current trade liberalisation rules and policies have led to increased poverty and inequality, and have eroded democratic principles, with a disporportionately large negative effect on the poorest countries...' links to a page on this site.
The page on this site is a reproduction of a magazine article contrasting the number of deaths from terrorist attacks with the mortality rates of diseases associated with poverty, the number of people living with HIV, illiteracy, homelessness, etc.
Do you think the researcher of the WTO piece knew they were linking to a Socialist website, run by members of an organisation who would abolish the WTO? The banner is probably a bit of a clue. Maybe they just thought that the statistics we had reproduced from New Internationalist magazine were too compelling to ignore.
It must be pointed out that this is the only 'link' SSP Glenrothes has with the World Trade Organisation!
The article on the WTO site can be found here (The link to this site appears in the section on Democracy)
The page on this site it links to is here
Ha ha!
In case you didn't work it out two seconds after visiting the "WTO" site, it's a hoax site! These crafty web wizards have been foxing numerous people around the world for ages with their various sites!
